The Conference Centre is located in the city centre and is within walking distance of both the railway and bus/coach stations.



Travel

Southampton is an easily accessed central location on the south coast of England which is served by excellent road, rail, air and ferry links. However you plan to travel to Southampton, the following information and links might be useful.

By Car

Southampton is just 75 miles from London and 21 miles from the Channel ports. Click here for an overview of the major routes in the city.

From the Midlands and the North use the M6 or A1/M1, M42, M40 and A34 links or alternatively M6 and M1, M25, M3 to Jct 14, A33 to City Centre and Waterfront 

From Wales and Avon use the M4 to Jct 13, A34, M3 to Jct 14, A33 to City Centre and Waterfront or M4 to Jct 18, A46, A36, M27, M271 to City Centre and Waterfront 

From London, Heathrow, Essex and East Anglia take the M25 or A316 and join the M3 motorway south to Jct 14, A33 to City Centre and Waterfront 

From Gatwick and the Channel ports take the M23 or M20 as appropriate, M25, M3 south to Jct 14, A33 to City Centre and Waterfront 

From the South East take the A27 or A272, or A3M, M27 to Jct 3 and follow signs to City Centre and Waterfront 

From the South West take M5, A30 or A358, A303, A36, M27 to Jct 5 and follow signs to City Centre and Waterfront

The recommended long-stay car parks are Grosvenor Square and Bedford Place - both are just a short walk from the conference centre (charges apply). The City Centre Parking leaflet also details other city centre parking facilities.

By Rail

The nearest railway station to the conference venue is Southampton Central Station

From London, travel from London Waterloo station which is the hub of the South West Trains. South West Trains' routes take in Hampshire, Surrey, Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon Cornwall, Berkshire, Middlesex, East and West Sussex and Greater London and serve both commuters and longer-distance travellers.

On arrival at Southampton Central Station, if you exit via Platform 1, turn right, walk up the hilly footpath towards the Civic Centre (large white stone building with clock tower). Follow Civic Centre Road and then turn left into Above Bar Street.

If you exit on Platform 4, turn left, walk up the hill towards the Civic Centre (large white stone building with clock tower). Follow Civic Centre Road and then turn left into Above Bar Street.

By Coach

National Express, Greyhound and Megabus all travel to Southampton.

By Air

Southampton Airport is the leading 'Fast Track' airport for Central Southern England, from where over a dozen airlines serve almost fifty destinations. Up to 1.5 million passengers pass through the airport each year.

Taxis and regular buses services to the city centre are available from outside the airport entrance. Trains from Southampton Airport Parkway station (a two minute walk from the airport) also stop at Southampton Central Station - one stop away. 

Alternatively, Southampton can be easily accessed via Heathrow or Gatwick Airports. Direct coaches from Heathrow typically take a little over two hours and direct trains from Gatwick Airport to Southampton Central approximately 1 hour 50 minutes.

By Ferry

Portsmouth is approximately 30 minutes from Southampton by road. Portsmouth International Port offers a range of regular ferry services to and from France, Spain and the Channel Islands.

The Red Funnel provides a regular service to and from Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
